"The wisdom of the wise and the
experience of the ages are perpetuated by quotations."
Benjamin Disraeli
I agree. So if you see something here
you like, share it. Someone much wiser than I will ever be
said it. If you have a quote that has made a difference in
your life, please send it when you sign the guestbook. If it
helped you, it will most likely help someone else. Here are
some that people have sent to me. You can see they run the
gamut from solemn wisdom to witty and fun. I cherish them
and appreciate the fact that people thought enough of me to
send them. If some are not signed, it's because I respect
their privacy.
"It is the soldier, not a reporter who
has given us freedom of press.
It is the soldier, not the poet who has given us freedom of
speech.
It is a soldier, not a campus organizer, who has given us
freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier who salutes the flag and whose coffin is
draped by the flag who allows the protester to burn the
flag."
Charles Provence
"It's not the mountain we conquer,
it's ourselves."
Sir Edmund Hillary
We are what we repeatedly do.
Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit."
Aristotle
"Go confidently in the direction of
your dreams. Live the life you've imagined."
Henry David Thoreau
"It God brings you to it, He will bring
you through it."
This was spotted on a church marquee. Smart
people, those Christians
"When
you get discouraged and want to go back to youth, remember
Algebra class."
Yikes!
That one hit close to home.
"Live your life in such a way that when
your feet hit the floor in the morning, Satan shudders and
says..."Oh shit...she's awake."
Christie Craig sent me this and I cherish it. Just as I
cherish Christie and her writing partner Faye Hughes. Talk
about talent...
"A nation that makes a great
distinction between its soldiers and its scholars will have
its thinking done by cowards, and its fighting done by
fools."
Thucydides
"Knowing is not enough; we must apply.
Willing is not enough; we must do."
Goethe
"I believe the force is within you, so
force yourself."
Harrison Ford
"I have wondered at times about what the
Ten Commandment's would have looked like if Moses had run
them through the U.S. Congress."
R Reagan
"Some people are like a Slinky, not
really good for anything. But you still can't help but smile
when you shove them down the stairs."
"Give
your troubles to God; He'll be up all night anyway."
